Osoaviakhim (Society for Assistance to Defense, Aviation, and Chemical Construction, abbreviated OAKh) was a Soviet socio-political defense organization that existed in 1927-1948, the predecessor of DOSAAF. On May 23, 1925, by merging the societies ODVF (Society of Friends of the Air Fleet) and Dobrokhim (Society of Friends of Chemical Defense and Chemical Industry), the Aviakhim society was formed, which by June 1925 had about 3 million members and over 30 thousand primary cells throughout the country.
