Comrade Arkady Aleksandrovich Kokorin took part in the battle on August 21, 1944, near the village of Ermakisya and Popovka, Moldavian SSR. Commanding a mortar platoon at the time of the enemy’s counterattack, he gave a barrage of fire, the force of which forced the enemy to return and turn his retreat into flight.
On August 29, while destroying an enemy group, he destroyed 2 heavy machine guns with his mortar fire in the area of ​​the village of Broekosheti. For his courage and bravery, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree.

The Order was established on 20 May 1942 and came in first class and second class depending upon the merit of the deed. It was the first Soviet order established during the war, and the first Soviet order divided into classes.
